Summer 2018: July 30-August 12
The Alaska Cello Intensive (ACI) is a three-part series of workshops providing focused cello instruction and ensemble work for college-bound and elementary students.
ACI combines intense music study with the perhaps more intense experience of Alaska’s midnight sun, landscapes like Denali National Park or Kennecott Glacier, Northern Lights, ice fog and stone-cold silence.

Fairbanks, located in the heart of Alaska, is home to some of America’s finest young and professional cellists. A decades-long program of string musicianship has made Fairbanks an unusual cello community.
With the Alaska Range to the south and Brooks Range to the north, Fairbanks is a city in the midst of vast
wilderness. Home to the flagship of the University of Alaska system, this isolated community has a strong
tradition of combining academic and artistic excellence with adventure.
Alaska Cello Intensive is a program of The Folk School Fairbanks, a 501(c)(3) Non-profit Organization
